KIDS AND DOGS by Tammy McDowell, Tri-County K9 Academy
This seminar teaches children not only how to handle their own dogs but how/when to approach dogs they dont know. Your children will learn many important safety tips and what a dog's body language might mean. This seminar is for 30 minutes and is a must for all families with children.

CLICKER TRAINING by Natalie Freshour, Molly's Mutthouse
Bring your dog out to learn the basics of clicker training. Learn how and why clicker training is so effective for teaching dogs everything from sit to tricks you see in movies. Bring your dog on leash with his favorite treats to learn a few fun commands!

Behavior Q&A by Natalie Freshour, Molly's Mutthouse
Dog won’t walk on a leash? Jumps on strangers? Learn why dogs do the things they do and how to fix problem behaviors. Dogs are welcome to attend. Be sure to bring your dogs favorite treats if you bring them!!!

HOUSEBREAKING 101 by Kim Grieff, The Pet Tutor
This is probably the must frustrating area of training for most pet owners. Come and learn proven techniques!

SERVICE DOG DEMONSTRATION by Allie Keaton, My Service Dog, Inc.
My Service Dog, Inc: Bring your children and dogs and come see an amazing and educational demonstration with Allie Keaton and Service Dogs, Molly and Nate. The dogs will get a drink from an ice chest, remove clothing, retrieve items by name, and much more. This demonstration teaches you about Service Dogs, the Disabled Persons, and how to approach them in public.

OBEDIENCE AND PROTECTION DEMONSTRATIONS by Tammy McDowell, Tri-County K9 Academy
Location: Creekside Plaza cul-de-sac (across from Museum)
When: Saturday and Sunday, times to be announced

Contests:
All contests cost $3.00 per pet entered. If you pre-register at Different Strokes Pet Boutique by October 9, it will only be $2.00 per pet. All money raised from these contests, as well as raffles and Yappy Hour, will be awarded back to 3-5 rescue groups/shelters through a drawing on Sunday afternoon. Each contest must have at least 6 contestants or it will be cancelled so get all your friends to enter! Most prizes will be valued from $50 - $100 and will be announced soon.

Costume Contest
Your creativity will be greatly rewarded! Put on your thinking cap and come up with that special costume for your pet! This year, the costume contest will be divided into three areas:

1. Pets
2. Pets and kids (or pet costumes designed by kids)
3. Pets and adults

Hint: Just start with a costume and go a step further, i.e. maybe put the pet on a small float or dress up with your pet, etc. The more creative you are, the better your chances are!

Prizes: Pets only - $75 gift card from Petsmart, Pets and Kids - Webkinz basket, Pets and Adults - $100 cash

Most Talented Pet

Does your pet have an amazing talent / trick that would impress the world? PetFest is the perfect place to show him off!

Best Mug Shot Photo Contest
Starting September 2, all you amateur photographers step forward and send or bring your best pet pictures and a $3.00 entry fee per picture to:

Make sure to send the name, age and breed / species of the pet.

Step 2: Send your friends in to vote on your picture. Each vote will cost $1.00 (donation to the rescue drawing).

All pictures will be displayed at Different Strokes and the sooner you get your picture in, the more time you will have to get votes! All pictures will be displayed at PetFest and the winner will be announced on Sunday, October 14.

Pet / Owner Look-a-Like Contest
Have you always been told you look just like your pet? Now you can show off your resemblence!

Enjoy a "hands on" experience with goats, lamb, and baby piggies! Also, have fun playing
" Chicken Bingo!" If you dont know what this is, make sure you check them out at Libby Lulu's shop (Preston at Main).

SILENT AUCTIONS
Bid often - bid high! On Saturday only, come bid on some wonderful items donated by many Houston area and Old Town Spring businesses. All money raised is donated back to the rescue groups! Bidding will end at 4PM on Saturday and winners will be announced around 4:45. Winning items must be paid for by Wednesday, October 17 or they will be sold to the next highest bidder. If you are unable to be there when winners are announced, please call 281/528-7070 to make arrangements for payment.

Come and meet Sebastian, the 6' tall ferret and mascot of the Houston Area Ferret Association!


Pet Psychic Lisa Greene

Available for in-person readings with your pets by appointment both Saturday & Sunday at Pet Fest 2007. (Your pets do NOT have to be there for a great reading!). Check out her website to read the testimonials from her clients - www.petperceptions.com. A portion of her proceeds are being donated to PetFest for the rescue drawing!

Blessing of the Animals
Have your pets blessed by ordained minister, Deborah Taliaferro. She will be doing group blessings and for those that want them, individual blessings afterwards.

Event fee: Free (but donations are welcome!)

Yappy Hour
For the party animals, both 2 legged and 4! Saturday, 4pm to 9pm. Come relax with your pet after a busy day at PetFest. Listen to the music of acoustical guitarist, Will Van Winkle and meet other pet lovers. $7 per person (4-legged guests are free). Admission includes a free glass of wine, beer or soft drink for the people and fresh water for your furkids. We'll also have finger foods for everyone including your pets!

What a great way to top off the day!

Come meet Francis Alberti, author of Finding Rover. This book is about a dalmatian mix and his owner, Bobby, getting back into their home lost in Katrina. All proceeds from the purchase of this book goes to this cause.

MICROCHIPPING
Houston B.A.R.C and Montgomery County Animal Services will provide microchipping for only $15 at their booths. This only takes a minute and could be the only way you might be reunited with your pet if it gets lost.

Ask the Vet
Dr. Dan Jordan of Animal Avian Hospital of The Village and Dr. Clara Scott of My Family Vet have both graciously volunteered their time to answer your questions. Both vets are very well known to the animal rescue community for their dedication to homeless pets. Their other clients will tell you that their pets are treated like one of the family! If you have any basic questions about any type of animals, now is the perfect opportunity to ask! Dr. Jordan will be at PetFest on Saturday from 1PM - 5PM and Dr. Scott will be here on Sunday from Noon - 5PM. They may even have vet techs with them to trim nails!

Canine Good Citizen Testing by Natalie Freshour, Molly's Mutthouse
The AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) certification is a program designed for pet owners to reward dogs who have good manners in the home and community. The test is open to all dogs, no matter what age, breed or mix of breeds and consists of ten exercises that every dog should be able to do (sit, down, come, etc.). For more information on the CGC go to www.AKC.org.

Please note that special training collars, treats, and toys may not be used while the test is being administered. Testing will be done at Molly's Mutthouse booth.

Smile! You're on candid camera. Rebecca Romo, Posh Pet Portraits, is our roving photographer and will be snapping pictures of various sites during PetFest. If you would like pictures taken of your pet, or if you would just like a snap shot taken of your pretty smile, feel free to flag her down if you see her. Photos will be posted on her website: http://www.poshpetportraits.com/ Price for photos: $12 (a set of (4) 3 1/2 x 5 's. Orders can be placed via e-mail at: luvalldogs@earthlink.net and photos will be mailed to you.
